That'd be my guess. I think the actual mechanism to shredder isn't powered by anything, otherwise, why would it only shredder half the painting, if you could go all the way? To activate a low-powered RC receiver could've been used.
My question was how did they do it, not how they could have done it. :) I've helped building ASICs for ultra-low power RF sensors that could run for years on a single coin cell. So I know what they could have done. I want to know what they did.
That'll always be a mystery. It's banksy. The guy has been a high-profile target for the last decade and his/its real identity is still unknown.
Sure, but someone else is owning that frame now. If they wanted they could [have someone qualified] take it apart and post documentation online. (Not going to happen it being a piece art art worth over $1M of course, but nothing Banksy could do to stop them.)
