The Ethics of Beleif by W. K. Clifford had an immense impact on me and how I see the world. Not because any of the ideas in it were new to me, but because to this day I can not understand how anyone could think anything in it is controversial. None of it should be. #TruthIsTruth
So this matches: "You may believe the statement of another person [God], when there is reasonable ground for supposing that he knows of what he speaks [there is], and that he is speaking the truth as far as he knows it. [He knows the truth better than I do, so ... yes.]"
For starters, God is not a person. God is an abstract concept created by people. God never made any statements. People make statements and attribute them to God.
The kerning on that document could really be improved. It's quite distracting.
I've been defending this document against broad negative single-paragraph criticism for many years now. This is the first such statement that I can unequivocally agree with.
