At least they are consistent
It's probably just a bad idea to book flights without at least an hour buffer on intermediate airports.. And I should learn how to travel lighter on short trips so that I don't need check-in baggage at all.

I don't know what kind of companies you're flying with, because I've never had that happen to me. And this is not the first time something like this happened to you. Or are you just unlucky when it comes to flying? :'(
