People are requesting evidence (not sensational anecdotes) demonstrating that the border was ever a real problem?

Replying to @RSNikhil @realDonaldTrump
Sadly he wouldn't even understand those words. From "Fear" we now know that he is not just trying to destroy everyone else's sense of truth, he himself is living in a mental state that has no room for concepts like facts and truth. His poor rhetoric is all he has.

I don't get it,
@oe1cxw. U don't live in the US, and certainly nowhere near the US borders where cops have struggled to deal with the lawless illegal immigration problem, and yet u are declaring that you understand the problem and know the best sol'n? Doesn't make any sense.2 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -
It is disheartening to see you unable to recognize the geopolitical disaster that this US presidency is. Of course I am affected by the things this US president does! From his stupid trade war to the systematic dismantling of western values and institutions, I'm affected.

For example the policy of separating kids, even toddlers, from their parents at the US border: This will undermine UN human rights work for decades to come. Everyone will just point to the US and say "If they can do it so can we!"

Not only is the practice barbaric, it is also unlawful, sending a clear signal that the law does not apply equally to everyone anymore in western societies. Or look at the systematic dismantling of the US state department, or the EPA. Those have geopolitical consequences!

But of course the most prominent victim of the Trump Presidency is Truth itself. And this is the thing I'm criticizing in my tweet. No matter how obvious his lies are, some still believe him and even defend him. Even some otherwise very intelligent people.

And this problem, like the others, is of course also one that reaches far beyond the US borders. But regarding "lawless illegal immigration": I think Nikhil's statement also applies here. All I see is empty rhetoric and sensational anecdotes. Where is the data?

Post scriptum: But leaving the debate about data vs. empty rhetoric aside, don't you think, as a constitutional principle, that an administrations actions should be within the law, not defying the law?
