Not only is the practice barbaric, it is also unlawful, sending a clear signal that the law does not apply equally to everyone anymore in western societies. Or look at the systematic dismantling of the US state department, or the EPA. Those have geopolitical consequences!
But of course the most prominent victim of the Trump Presidency is Truth itself. And this is the thing I'm criticizing in my tweet. No matter how obvious his lies are, some still believe him and even defend him. Even some otherwise very intelligent people.

Post scriptum: But leaving the debate about data vs. empty rhetoric aside, don't you think, as a constitutional principle, that an administrations actions should be within the law, not defying the law?
