I am curious. While we are on the subject, was the 1980's "The Day After" shown in Europe during the cold war? I watched "Threads" recently, same genre, but from the UK. Wondering if "The Day After" crossed the pond or not. Had big impact on America at the time.

Edmund probably knows. He is old like me :) Excellent movie anyways. Conflict between Soviet troops in East Germany and NATO troops in West Germany result in some tactical nukes being used to hold off advances. Then everything goes to shit rapidly all around the world.

Sounds a bit like Central passage by Lawrence Schoonover. Read that in my teens and it had a big impact on me. Also read 1984, Brave new world, animal farm, Fahrenheit 451 and Kallocain around that time. Didn't have much faith in humanity after that :)
