But you can build an optical insulator just fine.
Yes, you can dump one stream in a black body, getting only black body radiation back. But you can't actually build a "diode" for black body radiation and cheat thermodynamics. (Which is fine for most applications for optical isolators of course.)

To anyone reading along: Thermodynamics is both the easiest and also the most definitive test, if some idea is viable, or just balooney. I blame the hot weather on my misstep ;)
