I want to remind everyone that it was an absolute requirement of the program call that all EDA Tools will be released as open source. Only for POSH and IDEA. ERI has other programs as well.. But even for POSH and IDEA it looks like "open source" is now being redefined as "accademics get free of charge access to binaries" in some cases. I think this is very sad.

But why open source anything at all? Imagine if Yosys was closed source and proprietary,
@oe1cxw would be swimming in money right now... /s I don't think any of these large EDA companies will open source anything tbh. -
There are efforts, of course. But meanwhile rounded mind people gets his eyes bright for the green piece of papers, will be slow. One of the first campaigns in Synopsys was to release ARC SW platforms as opensource (https://github.com/foss-for-synopsys-dwc-arc-processors …)
