For efficiency and quality reasons we prefer to use formal methods to find bugs instead of looking at billions of clock cycle long traces.

Yep. I can't see much use for such a device - 99% of the time when a problem is best solved by attaching hardware to an FPGA, it is an SI problem where a scope is a much better fit.

I did talk to the vendor at DAC and imo it definitely has its use cases. When I worked in LIDAR I would have loved to have such a device to capture the whole pipeline while processing live data.
