I hate projects that assume you already know as much about it as the author does, just to build and use it! Ideally there should be copy&paste-able instructions that have been tested on a virgin install of an OS (e.g. Ubuntu), not just the author’s customized environment.
Which is exactly what one can find in the first few paragraphs in the Yosys README file, the IceStorm webpage, and the SymbiYosys manual, to name just a few places. And it's tested on a virgin Ubuntu VM (or a cloud instance) in regular intervals.
… which is *extremely* easy to do in these days when you can spin up a virgin Ubuntu on EC2 or locally in docker in seconds.
