  1. Evidently it's , so...okay. Last year,  integrated a new "suction sampler" onto our ROV Deep Discoverer, allowing us to collect more delicate samples, like this midwater squid. Learn more about our "deep-sea vacuum" here:

  3. Hope your Monday isn't off to a grumpy start... We saw this “grumpy goosefish” (not an official common name, btw) during  2019 SE U.S. Deep-sea Exploration. This angler fish (Lophiodes beroe) is an ambush predator, sitting on seafloor until something tasty swims by!

  16. : Mid-ocean ridge is most extensive chain of mountains on Earth, stretching ~65,000 km; yet, +90% is in deep ocean, so much of it remains a mystery. Sounds like a job for ! Get ready to explore the Mid-Atlantic Ridge w/ us this summer:

The nearly continuous, global mid-ocean ridge system snakes across the Earth’s surface like the seams on a baseball. It is clearly visible on this map of global topography above and below sea level. The ridge system forms the longest and largest mountain range on Earth, winding its way between the continents.
