I've been exploring Rust+WebAssembly recently. Here's one experiment made with those - my friend said it looked like thousands of fruit loops dancing to "music". Runs in your browser (and maybe even your phone). One file, just 4092 bytes.

WEALTH INEQUALITY: The richest 1% controls more wealth now than at any time in more than 50 years. But what does wealth inequality really look like? turned America’s economic pie into a real one and asked people a simple question: Who gets what?

I think application builders should consider building frameworks to keep control of complexity. If your application happens to fit the external frameworks exactly, you're very lucky. That may happen for a range of simple applications.

At the reception, the alien ambassador turned to their human guide. "It seems so strange," they said, "that there are two distinct types of humans." "Ah, yes, 'men' and 'women'. You see-" "No, multiple sexes and genders is common. I mean how some are unable to say 'I was wrong'."

Recognising someone as a human being, however flawed, shouldn't be contingent on believing they are correct, and making fun of other people's ridiculous beliefs is mostly a way of helping you pretend that you couldn't fall into that trap.

Acknowledgement of these concerns on would be appreciated. Because right now, it feels like a lot of the ideas behind weren't run across any OSS project that'd be listed, before going public.

let's say you're a tech worker in SF unhappy about Palantir and you decide on "name and shame" as a strategy. who do you name and shame? - random unpaid volunteers maintaining such critical OSS as "is-odd" - Palantir employees, of which there is literally a list you can get

Does the Ethical Source Working Group have publicly accessible meeting notes, or regular public communication, or something similar to keep up with the working group as an "outsider"? And what would the appropriate channels to communicate with them / provide inputs?

I can't think of anything you could do worse around ICE and tech than : - Undermining worker organizing around this issue - Pushing an unenforceable "license" that only exists to get you speaking slots - Threatening and harming FOSS projects

In theory this movement sounds cool and good but blaming open source authors who write code that's used by anyone for anything is the wrong move....

So instead of naming and shaming relatively wealthy and directly complicit Palantir employees we're now... *Checks notes* it says we're blaming the authors of whatever freely available code Palantir found in the open source movement? Seems like it might have consequences.

Is this an approach you recommend for projects not used by ICE? eg will be moving all of your projects off MIT?

Please listen to the voices explaining why this is a bad idea. It will globally affect FOSS-contributors and projects in a bad way, and have zero impact on the intended target.

Why stop there! You could also sell kitchen utensils with a simple clause that it may not be used for stabbing people. Or we could sell phones with the clause that you can't use it to call people during dinner. If people do break the clause we can finally sue these evil sellers.

Problem with ethical is that, in general, it's ambiguous. Is it ethical to use it to overthrow oppressive regimes? Is it ethical to suppress terrorism? These two things can coexist in a country and be the opposing forces.
