For the week of 01/23 – 01/29, 3 lives were lost to violence, 64 instances of gunfire, 38 robberies, and 5 carjackings. This year, OPD has investigated 8 homicides, 8 this time in 2022. 91 firearms were recovered in 2023. Working together we can make Oakland Safer!

OPD was notified by ALCO Coroner the cause of death of Kazuhiro David Sakurai was “Complications of Gunshot Wound.” He was shot at the King Estates campus on 9/28/22. He died on 11/17/22. We are re-releasing this video in hopes someone can identify those wanted for his homicide.

Update: There were 11 victims: •5 people were shot including 18yr old Mario Navarro-Navarro who died. •3 people involved in a solo vehicle collision leaving the scene. •2 victims were in a vehicle that was struck by bullets. •1 victim's business was struck by bullets
