I actually think it speaks the innumeracy and magical thinking again. He can’t really imagine the consequences of his ideas and just wants the current stock market pain to stop. He really doesn’t get a worst case of 4-8 million Americans dead and what that does to the country.

Also it would never happen. TX might stay open until it is totally beyond control, but with exponential growth at the beginning that happens fast. And no one will have the guts not to lock down after the hospitals are total chaos.

yeah, Hawaii has low self-esteem about our government, but we start statewide essential movement only on Wednesday and a 14 day quarantine on flight passengers starting Thursday. I'm actually optimistic that if we got serious with testing we could control it with the quarantine.

i think island states/nations have a leg up here. examples: hong kong, taiwan, singapore (though to be fair, they have significant SARS experience, and in recent memory to boot)
