people: I don't feel comfortable in communities that embrace known bad actors and treat "political drama" as a graver offense than harassment community members: are you saying we're unwelcoming? maybe you're unwelcoming

As in your public tweets, you're mischaracterizing what I'm saying. And no, the "political drama" isn't the issue. Given you haven't approached me, a TL non-founder, plus the public shaming, I'm going to assume that's deliberate and you're not interested in dialog. Cheers

I’m willing to have a dialogue, try me. My outsider perspective: as long as communities give platform to people who spread & support hate, I don’t feel safe or welcome. Keeping abusers around who are better at PR isn't my idea of "safe" or "welcoming".

I fully agree with that statement, any community that claims to be inclusive must deplatform to anyone who spreads & supports hate. People like Moldbug or Ed Lattimore clearly belong in that category IMO and I think it's clear that they'd be banned immediately from ...

… participating in any Typelevel channels. I think there is wide consensus on that in the community. That said, I think there is less consensus on whether this should also apply to people who are associated with them. I.e. Conference organizers, Conference speakers, attendees...

...I would never allow anyone hateful like that to speak at any conference I organize, but not everyone agrees on that. I honestly don’t really know what the right answer is. How many degrees of association are considered alright?

Remember that time a woman asked JDG not to tag his sponsor Cl*rkhat into her mentions because she’d received death threats from C-hat’s crew in the past, and JDG’s response was “lol he’s not abusive”?

C-hat is a racist alt-right piece of shit who sponsored LC 20-whatever when all the other sponsors dropped out. He’s since been banned from Twitter for abuse, and I’ve personally gotten death threats when he’s targeted me, so I believe this person.

None of this stuff happened that long ago, and nothing has changed, apart from the fact that some people have realized they need to delete some of their worst old tweets and be a little less openly shitty.

From the peanut gallery (me): I’ve been watching for awhile and even I have a hard time piecing it together. I think I’ve seen most of what you’re talking about, but I can imagine it’s hard for those who haven’t been watching closely since tweets and chat logs have been deleted

Believe me, it's harder not to follow closely when you're the one getting the death threats.
