rust feels very familiar, in that you spend a lot of effort dealing with inference not working due to subtyping, just like scala
how often are you fiddling with lifetimes? I got the feeling from my reading up on Rust that lifetimes aren't something you'd wrestle with all the time but I'm not experienced in actual Rust :)

I'm spending more time than I'd like to. I'm getting better at avoiding talking about it with the compiler. It seems to come up more when you are dealing with passing thunks and closures around, and dealing with futures

but you can also avoid a lot when you say "screw borrowing this, I'm just going to clone everything, its going to be fast anyway"
