Trying out plant-based (mix of hemp, pea, rice) protein powder, so far my muscles hurt more than with whey protein isolate but still much less than in the old days when I did nothing. Could easily be a blip though! Either way I have a new whey isolate on my list to try too.

That's cool what brand are you trying? I'm pretty happy with this one thus farpic.twitter.com/YDnef7ZVol

My plant mix is Third Wave Nutrition (no sweetener or sugar) but the new whey isolate I'm eyeing up is by Pulsin: https://www.pulsin.co.uk/whey-protein-isolate.html …

I don't know if it was a blip but my DOMS is worse under plant-based. I have a feeling it could easily be noise though as I did a particularly good/hard leg day.

Is your one working well for you regarding DOMS? Many people with more testosterone than me tend to say they don't get DOMS as bad as me.

I've never used non-plant protein regularly so I can't make the comparison. As for muscle aches, I find the recovery time to be significantly less when my diet is plant based overall. I also get muscle spasms after exercise and using magnesium tablets helps me with that A LOT

Interesting. I don't get spasms but I do take L-Glutamine and BCAAs before working out which really help with energy during. Are you vegetarian?

I've heard good stuff about both especially BCAAs. I dont take anything else. I'm not weight lifting or even going to the gym. At the moment I'm only playing amateur league basketball
Part time vegetarian here. I do it for a few weeks then quit but my diet is mainly plant based1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

Oh, but that's still a workout! Nice. I'm a full-time pescitarian 100% for 2 years (before that once-a-week I ate chicken, and before that I used to eat red meat). I do gym and bouldering and the DOMS from both was out of this world for months. Like literally walking like Kryten.

Your protein shake should have BCAAs regardless to that would help for recovery, but I think it's important to take them in pure form (pills or drink, just going off my memory of the research) before/during/after exercise to get the real effects.

I do pills before and after (during is too much to organise) because I fear the drink will taste too sweet.
