Is it just me, or is using “menopausal” to describe the economy deeply sexist and insulting? Apparently it describes economies “past their peak and no longer potent”. Words fail mehttps://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2018/05/15/menopausal-uk-economy-risks-once-in-a-century-slump-warns-deputy/ …

Olivia Guest | Ολίβια Γκεστ @o_guestNot only sexist but a really shit metaphor since menopause exists exactly because evolutionarily women have a value over & above child bearing in humans. All other animals don't have menopause (only 2 exceptions short-finned pilot whales & killer whales)! https://twitter.com/BBCsarahsmith/status/996681674124611584?s=19 …Show this thread1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes -

Cool, so not insulting. Suggests the economy is more than rapid growth in GDP, which in a mature successful economy is fine and can support a good quality of life for its citizens.
