we debated whether to just create blank spaces for independent variables as specified by each researcher, but feared this would simply perpetuate the problems we already have.

Since this is python based, there is surely a way to make this possible. A quick Google search yielded me this: https://realpython.com/api-integration-in-python/ … This would be enough for me to come up with an python binding. But I believe there are also easier tutorials somewhere in the web

So my experience is they need detailed, very detailed, docs. We've an RSE in our lab exactly because of certain things needing extra productisation for end users (likely similar overlapping with yours). My advice is to assume nothing and containarise everything. Obv this might
