Gender vs. sex. Which is relevant here?

Sex and gander are the same. A trans woman's sex is female.

Ok, that is clear but can it be (asking because I don't know) that they are separated? Such as some one that has sex A, gender B but does not consider themselves trans?

No, because I cannot think of a case wherein that would not be misgendering. Sex and gender are both constructs humans have created. If you want to know if somebody has a vagina or penis or neither you can ask about genitals.

By "you can ask about genitals" obviously I mean in the appropriate context and respectfully.

Ok. So then it is a matter of preference using sex or gender, i guess. ??

Other will disagree with me — but if you are asking about me personally, my use and preferences: I prefer to use gender for everything that others also use sex for and sex for the act of sex.

Oh, I forgot to add: you can also (again respectfully and appropriately) ask if somebody is cis or trans too.
