My advice to everyone if you can avoid ever getting serious work done to a place: avoid. Buy a place that's already ready. We thought we were doing a good job buying a place cheaper & doing it up but it's costed more & it's been so many sleepless nights of stress. Fucking London.

I did the same, not in London but 5 years later and I mostly think it was worth it as everything is nearly how I want it. Even the so called perfect houses usually have plenty of problems. Builders are mostly awful though

That's so nice to hear. Nothing feels like it's how I want it because they don't seem to listen to me very much, always blame somebody else and have an excuse. Currently for example the counter top is in the way of a door all of which they build in contradiction to the plans.

That's annoying :( I hope it gets better for you.

Thank you. I'm trying hard to stay relaxed.

Crikey, I am very sorry to read that! I have both worked and lived on building sites and know the intense strain it places on everybody. Here’s to you reaping many years of comfort from the work you are doing now!

Thank you!

I would add that, just because somewhere is well decorated, does not mean it is good quality. Fancy wall paper isn't warm! Ten years ago I bought a beautiful looking house that was a natural freezer. I lot of money and sweat changed it!

True. This is why we took out all the house from dirt to sky. New floors, roofs, etc.
