I'm glad people remind me of this because I never felt this way.

I enjoy abstract problems. I always enjoyed pure maths. I never understood adults who said to me "I hated having to find x" at school in maths.

I just really like abstract stuff, basic science, pure maths. Never been into applied stuff TBH. Not a value judgement as I'm sure yours wasn't either of course.

I would never defend how I was taught in high school, but I enjoyed the maths and programming in lyceum. In middle school and before I was severely bullied and that's all related to the terrible schooling one gets for free in a place at war with itself run as a theocracy.

Anyway, I'm sorry teaching is/was so poor for us. I kind of think a is often just a thing to do to pass the time till we're old enough to actually learn stuff.
