I am going to talk a little about something that — yes, I know, I talk about it a lot — but it's been especially playing on my mind lately:
Learning how to code.

I learned some programming in my undergraduate course. I think it contributed intellectually. But today I never use it practically. And that's fine. The best course was Lisp. The exercise book was brilliant. Every ten pages it said "Now take a rest and a peanut butter sandwich"

I have research questions that require coding to answer and I want to be able to address them myself (not be dependent on others who can code). I’m not there yet, though. Need much more training and practice.

I would really like to be able to quickly build Arduino prototypes myself. Also, I once bought an old timer scooter bike when I was 16 which sat in the shed for 2 years because I was too clumsy to repair a broken brake cable. So what can I realistically expect from myself here?

I am super clumsy, even though my partner thinks it's more carelessness, but I can code.
