Professors who boast in seminar/reading-group meetings about how they "used to chase girls in undergrad instead of studying" are sexist wankers IMHO — they are even worse, 100% lacking empathy, when they do it to a group of all senior men academics except 1 PhD student woman.

I know it doesn't change much, but that really sucks and I'm sorry
-
That's sweet of you to say. But you have to remember that it's not a student's *job* (nor mine) to police professors — and I'm only one rung higher really but I certainly try to do my bit.
-
Notwithstanding, nobody else will say anything so it's not like anybody is trying to fix it either in many cases. If you think profs are out of line, somebody ideally should say something though regardless! You'd hope another prof did it.
-
But if nobody does it, then it might have to fall on you. And that sucks, and like I said not your job, but... if everybody shirks the shit stays where it is.

-
I think the real issue, is why other profs aren't saying anything. That's the really disturbing thing.
-
Similar issues I imagine. Discomfort, power dynamics, or worse: they're oblivious, not that any of that is an excuse
-
In this specific case, it was "bros hanging out" even though is was NOT bros doing shit, it was a professional meeting of academics they all happened to be men who are fucking clueless.
