It can run both ways though. Definitely a lot of goths/emos/rockers yelling at...well anyone wearing a tracksuit when I was younger. I once saw some idiot run past a teenage mom and punch her in the head. Then everyone laughed about it bc 'she was such a chav'

Oh, I have definitely seen my fair share of punks messing with "normal" people. Not so much now, since I am a grown ass man and don't hang out with teens and us older punks tend to have mellowed with age.

There are lot of frankly elderly punks in Camden where I work lol. They mind their own business though.

For some reason many punks in science have been really rude to me over the years, a small minority of one have since changed — but overall I've had bad experiences actually.

A memorable event was me bringing up Popper's paradox and them saying free speech is more important than telling Nazis to fuck off or some such BS. And I was like "Yes, intolerance of intolerance is correct" and they came back with "you are the real Nazi here"

Wow. Just. Wow. If they possessed any self awareness, that would have been the moment where they should have been like... "Oh wow, I am not really punk rock, am I?"

So my theory is that subculture men (straight bro dudes) feel they need to dominate subculture women "because there is a limited supply". I see it very often, sadly.

Yeah, I tend to agree with your theory. I have seen it many times myself. Hyper-masculine signalling, like a bunch of birds lekking, but way less nuance. Truly nauseating.

The reason I try my best to ignore them.
