How do we find the right balance between "you can't change the situation, but you can change how you react to it" and "nah, this situation is a garbage fire, it's understandable that you're angry and hurt, we should change things" in academic discussions?

If we're thinking about who is bearing the burden and doing the labor of this system, including emotional labor, we want to consider the extent to which urging grad students/early career scholars to adjust their emotional responses is healthy and appropriate.
