Not enough but at least something that I assume makes people's lives easier.

"Easier" is really complex to determine.

A bittersweet memory from early on (2004ish) was parking our car outside a house (normal in Cyprus) in Nicosia (North side — we're from the Greek-speaking South) and the middle-aged couple who lived there spoke Greek to us & were friendly. Breaks my heart we had/have to be apart.

Very early on, they opened up certain checkpoints in 2003, I was terrified of crossing. Especially when I read "proud to be a Turk" and saw their guns. Now, I'm closer to being equally scared of all of them.

Also just to be clear, I'm not scared of, e.g., Greek Cypriot policemen for my own safety. I'm just scared of what they might do to Turkish Cypriots, etc.
