Asking me if I want kids at work/work-related event (e.g., conf dinner, official work drinks, etc.) even if it is a peer, is not the most welcome question in many cases. Insult to injury when I say "no" and you come back with "your hormones will kick in and you will want them".

Do not be like that. They wouldn't have asked a man this question and not have told a man, had he said no, that "his hormones will kick in". I have actually stopped taking people seriously/talking to them for these aggressive assertions and insertions into my private life.

If you think I will have kids no matter what "because hormones" then why ask me? Kindly fuck off.

Not only did this happen multiple times with different groups in different workplaces — but I brought it up the other day to pre-empt it from happening (I could see the conversation going that way)... And the person said "asking you about kids is totally fine at work".

I explained how actually it's really not OK at work and in an interview would be a massive no-no and they acted like they knew all along. Also thankfully another person involved said "I'm a dude and have never been asked and you would never ask me, so there". That was nice.

You should follow up by asking them intrusive questions about their prostate or testicular cancer. "Did you know 11% of men get prostate cancer?"

People can be massive sexist wankers outside work and I just won't hang out with them — at a work event, I kind of want them to control their BS.

Now that I am 💯risk-free of pregnancy, I can positively confirm that this mambo yambo theory of hormones kicking in, bio clocks, and the rest of these nonsense arguments are BS . Ofc, some will argue that my hormones were faulty... 😒

I’m rather wondering if by hormones kicking in they mean things like feeling a deep joy when you see other people’s kids and mutter in your mind: “omg so happy they’re not mine!” because that sure happens to me often. those hormones... 😆
