I don't understand people outside modelling who directly/indirectly state/imply computational modelling is easy. It's offensive in and of itself to say something one hasn't even really tried is superficially doable plus it's patently wrong about this specific type of work.

My favourite is when they (media, certain types of activist) imply that we can somehow replace experiment with computational models. Like. Please. Do you even know how much effort it takes to simulate ONE HIV protein at a molecular level?

Yeah, the media is definitely guilty but so are other scientists.

I went to lectures on Comp Neurosci & loved being walked through things, but under no illusion that I could *do*it...tho could follow the maths. I wanted to be able to talk to modellers, know what was feasible, understand limitations & gaze in awe at some neat stuff!

I think you could do it, but it's really tough nonetheless.
