When I explained why the argument was weak, that it relied too heavily on pre-established definitions, he responded that talking about definitions was "junk science", and that I needed to cite a peer-reviewed study supporting my argument.

Anyway, I'm not going to put this guy on blast any longer. As I said, this isn't about him. It's about how we collectively revere Science to the point where linking any idea to science becomes an argument in favour of that idea.

I don't know what the solution is. It's complex. But I think a huge component of this problem is that we see scientists as robotic pipette machines instead of living, breathing people who live in particular places, have particular relationships, and particular experiences.pic.twitter.com/DiSR47YiZR
