Good so you can see how Feminism, just like all movement needs to often clean their house, take out the trash, put their house in order.

Main reason why I have never liked to attach myself to any movement... I trust individuals but I don't trust groups/clubs/collectives.

That's fine for you but many people need community for their mental health.

I think you are talking about something else than Olivia. Speaking for myself, when I was young knowing that there existed people ‘like me’ in the
community, who could live a happy and fulfilling life, was a literal life saver.2 replies 0 retweets 3 likes -

IMO it is worrying if people’s need for representation and community is seen as ‘worrying’. I know not what you mean. But at the time it was seen as worrying by my father eg, because he was afraid I’d not intetact enough with ‘normal people’.

I think Esther means she is worried on behalf of marginalised people.

Oh then I misunderstood. I thought Esther worries about groups as about labels. Sorry if I misunderstood!

I'm not arguing or denying the benefits of belonging (or feeling that you do) to a community. I just said that it doesn't work for me. As for being worried, I am worried because I KNOW that many ppl need a community and these comm. are not clean, as Olivia said, and can harm.

Oh, yeah. To be honest, I often think that even discussing, for example, sexism in science has dissuade women, for example, from seeking out a career in science. But I also think it's important to discuss whatever we want as women and the issues we face.
