I think I am missing something. Why does it elicit such strong reaction? Because people should be saving more?

Because what's left is not "for spending". It's for what each person wants.

Basically it's a type of judgemental capitalist line of thinking that leads to so so many confusions and problems.

I see. I guess after reading too much CNN/Fox/Breitbart my capacity for outrage about anything was greatly reduced.

Here in the UK everyone is completely rational and no one says anything outrageous

I dunno, it's a spectrum for sure. But the UK is way safer for me even with all the bad rhetoric than my home country.

There are a lot of things that are fantastic about the UK. No doubt about that

Anyway, I've been thinking... To explain my issue with this further, Chris's question, I think just think about it this way. A so-called app to help you manage your money is telling you also either implicitly, or maybe even explicitly with more in app ads now to use it.

It's not saying this is your money, it's explicitly calling it "spending money". That's insidious IMHO. Part of a more general trend that's prominent amongst many of my peers that what's left after rent/bills is only useful to be spent buying shit. Not true.
