Anyway, I've been thinking... To explain my issue with this further, Chris's question, I think just think about it this way. A so-called app to help you manage your money is telling you also either implicitly, or maybe even explicitly with more in app ads now to use it.

It's not saying this is your money, it's explicitly calling it "spending money". That's insidious IMHO. Part of a more general trend that's prominent amongst many of my peers that what's left after rent/bills is only useful to be spent buying shit. Not true.
