routine, London, the tube, the busses, inexpensive good food, the fact people leave you alone, the whole treating ethnic minorities w at least some small shreds of respect, the NHS, the unarmed police, brutalism.

I left my home country to study, but I settled permanently in London for a reason. I never understood the patriotic zeal with which we were expected as children to feel for Greece (very very complex issues in Cyprus). But I do finally understand what belonging feels like.

Totally agree, patriotism and also the inability of many Greek families to understand consent and limits are very toxic. But hey, it’s great to find a place to call home!
