Holy fuck. So excited to be back. Literally bouncing w joy. I
routine, London, the tube, the busses, inexpensive good food, the fact people leave you alone, the whole treating ethnic minorities w at least some small shreds of respect, the NHS, the unarmed police, brutalism.

Never before in my life, 18 years in Cyprus, have I felt accepted & my values reflected in the mainstream until now. Anyway: nice to be back! Maybe with a bit of luck I can squeeze in some bouldering post transatlantic flight? I mean it's only 9:40am!

I get this to a large degree. My parents immigrated to Canada when I was 7, so that upended my childhood. I don't feel at home back there, but I'm starting to more here. Still, tradition and feeling attached to one's country of residence makes no sense to me.
-
It makes sense to me in many ways. I used to be completely brainwashed as a child. Especially with respect to hating Turkish people.

-
But I realised that it's something that I had to work on. Many people never grow up.

-
That's horrible, and yeah, some people just don't move past it, which is sad. D:

Totally agree, patriotism and also the inability of many Greek families to understand consent and limits are very toxic. But hey, it’s great to find a place to call home!
-
Well to be clear I'm not Greek, but yes, agreed.
