Ever since I went to a BPS graduate conference where presentations included someone studying her own 'cosmic experience' and another who told the audience she talks with dead people I have felt distanced from psychology. I used to defend it but this experience made me ashamed

Is this part of the problem that BPS student projects require novelty etc. Which for essentially untrained and mostly unsupervised undergrads = some zany madness? Such a shame and a waste of conferences though that could be spent on something with an evidence base

Their conference program last year is here. One of the talks is entitled “ancient teachings for our earth soul”, another is on “experimenting with mediumship”. That means talking with dead people. https://www.kc-jones.co.uk/files/uploads/1504008757.pdf …

It's a Sunday evening, will I get very angry and end up in despair...?

Well it’s entertaining but also really sad. Makes me ashamed that I’ve a BPS-accredited degree.
