Agreed. But we—scientists—have a responsibility IMO to call out scientism if we see it and educate the public, if not directly ourselves then in collaboration with science communicators.

The really sad truth is that a lot of this is zero sum: you just can't be a professional scientists and a professional media personality.

A pop scientist isn't a scientist any more than a pop science book is a peer reviewed journal article. The two things are so different as to be almost opposite and yet they are conflated 100% of the time outside science.
