Ten days before the deadline: Hey, what if we rewrite all of the core sections of this paper and use a totally different notation for everything? Three days before the deadline: Hmm. I don't think the thing we claim is our key insight is actually our key insight. FML.

Haha — wow, though. That is *ehem* good training for the rest of your academic career, especially if you're writing journal articles and/or conference proceedings in your first term!

I don't think I will publish a single (empirical) thing from my PhD work and it's been 3 years and 3 months (roughly) since I finished it.
