Historically, much resources have been invested in formal rigor in statistics & experimental design. But there has not been equivalent investments in training psychology students to learn the mathematics and computational skills to develop, simulate and test formal theory.

Well, pointing to published hand made predictions that are actually wrong, as not derived from the "model" wouldn't be to nice, would it? However the idea could illustrate the need for good formal specifications and proper simulation.
