How to self-archive a preprint or postprint: 1. Find the exact article (PDF, Word, Latex) that you just submitted or had accepted. 2. Upload it online. 3. Have a cup of tea for all your hard work. 4. Repeat as needed. 5. Wonder why you didn't do this already.

Especially if you keep figures/src/data needed for your TeX build and supplementary materials in subfolders, I find it much easier to upload to arXiv as a ZIP. Made a small utility to help automate that:https://github.com/cgranade/posh-tex …
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Also true for tex submissions to some journals before review. It makes sense as a policy for preprint servers, if you want all source files to be open as well.

Writing on overleaf/sharelatex helps. But even so, when I've distributed writing across multiple sub-files all that has to be redone at submission time.
