Job is only half done when you develop a new method and write a paper. If it is really valuable for a particular scientific application then you need to go all the way to illustrate usefulness/validity/software that integrates easily with their current practices.

So true. So so true. Releasing a multi-lingual package/backend with the new method seems so obvious and yet not everybody does this.

Doing this takes a lot of time and doesn't count enough on academic CVs. At least not enough as the primary publication. It is easy to discount long term benefits.

Yeah, you are correct. It is something that @ResearchSoftEng and @SoftwareSaved (and others!) are trying to change.
