I was actually having fun exploring a subject I sometimes ponder with someone smart, articulate, and who didn't agree with me. I've been opining that the lack of non-malicious hostile environments is a security hygiene problem.

Partially because I have (in the past couple of years) worked with bright young developers who proclaimed that sanitization of user input was dumb because they had nice users, curl | sudo bash was awesome, and P4s5w0rd! a strong password.
