Ok, I've been tortured enough by osf.io. It has the worst and least intuitive interface known to me. It is bound to turn away people from open science 4ever. Sad. Does anyone know of an alternative that human beings can understand and use? Sorry if I offend but OSF sucks.
I also struggle to get the OSF API do the things I want and I just ended up putting them on Dropbox and linking to them on OSF, which is less of a solution IMHO and more of a workaround/hack. @ctitusbrown would appreciate (y)our feedback, I think.

I'm sure the COS folk would appreciate any specific feedback! So far I've been happy with OSF for file storage and light documentation; http://ivory.idyll.org/blog/2017-osf-for-files.html …

I can see that it might not be good for running a lab, and github is both more intimidating and more powerful. Neither are really *platforms* yet which is kinda what I want.

as for osfclient, it's a very early version of things so filing issues/making suggestions here welcome.

Start simple. How about sth mimicking iCloud or DropBox with a "preregister" button for a file or folder (which freezes everything). As a first approximation that would go a long and simple way. Even 3rd yr students could handle that.

it's five clicks to do that in the OSF, isn't it? anyway, I don't work for 'em, but I'll tag 'em in!
