way to describe a place where actual people live. Where's this from?
I think some documents informing the British why Cyprus is (was) their colony!
@twitemp1 might appreciate this glimpse into the past.
Yes, I do. Disgusting! So you know, quite clearly expressed, you are just the population of an unsinkable aircraft carrier designed to ensure British control. On the bright side you are unsinkable...
It's amusing because even in the present there are many urban legends in Cyprus about certain very straight roads. People claim they are so straight because in case of another war we can use them as an aerodrome. This is of course in part fueled by the fact that last time there
was a war (1974) the Republic's side lost their only airport. It's still almost 100% abandoned now — cool photos here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicosia_International_Airport …
Sometimes there is some truth in urban legends and it wouldn't surprise me at all. You are "useful" it seems
No competence to do that. I mean once we [were told to] intercept[ed] some ammunitions being sent from Iran to Syria and we lost power on the whole island because we didn't store them properly and they exploded. It was tough, intermittent power and water. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evangelos_Florakis_Naval_Base_explosion#Background …

blackouts lasted for two to three hours [... &] were planned to affect only residential areas. [...] "airports, hospitals, tourist areas and industrial estates will not be affected from the power cuts in an effort not to cause problems for our economy".
Cyprus is like a joke but real. Kind of like a caricature of itself.
