CS = compsci? No idea, haven't heard this but maybe you're right? I'm an Experimental Psychology department and have been since I left compsci for cogsci, etc, in 2009.

For theoretical computer scientists simulations are experimental indeed. Otherwise one just derives properties analytically / by formal proof.

I find it a little disturbing but not too surprising that a side-thread exists where modelling without data is seen as anathema/misplaced. So i'm glad we all like it in this tiny patch of the twittersphere.

Either they don't understand what modelling has to offer or they just don't care because they believe "good" theories don't require such complexities. :/
