So data is necessary for a paper? Is this only the case in psych/cog sci? Or should it be for all sciences? Or why is human behaviour so special that we shouldn't have the same norm for other kinds of system? Genuinely open for args.

I find the idea that one paper should have it all ridiculous. Isn’t science a collective enterprise?

Psychology is not about the results of simulations. If you can’t connect to people data why would anyone care?

Connect yes but must this be done in the same paper? And why is psych special if this is the case? What about climate simulations? Economic simulations? Population ecology? Physical theories? What makes behaviour special?

"Science must have an empirical component" is very different to "every unit of communication within a science must have data"

Another one that is just a model — a preprint: https://arxiv.org/abs/1711.04640

But yeah, I have only one (and not first author) where there is empirical data. All my other work is modelling and theory.
