I believe simulations from cognitive models can be an interesting way to develop theory, and should be publishable. Are there any arguments against this belief? Are data necessary for publication in cog sci?

Fwiw, you're a great scientist and an example to many
-
Seconded. Science needs you. Don't let them grind you down.
-

You have no idea what this means to me. Seriously. Thank you, both! -
big fan of your research here as well! plus all-round human contribution to twitter!
-
Riccardo! OMG you. Honestly, I am so honored and happy. Next time I go super dark, these tweets will cheer me up. Bookmarking them.

-
Yeah you should come to Aarhus some time
-
I'm scared of the cold but yes, of course, I'd be honored!

Try to march more to the tune of your own drum. Remember it is these nay sayers who are the ones with the chips on their shoulders that are trying to offload them onto everyone else...
-
True that. The perhaps-not-too-surprising-truth is that most of the nay-saying THESE DAYS comes from inside my own head.

-
Ooh, then you will need to flush out those demons then - from your emoticon looks like you are already doing that

-
Yes! And thank you for the kinds words of support. They mean a lot!

Models and theoretical approaches are essential to science! How can anyone validate cognitive results in human data (with all its subjectivity, interferences, etc.) if they cannot be somehow modeled (and generalized)?
-
The point about generalization is critical for me. We should ideally aim to run model comparisons and verify inter-contextual claims and generalizations, but it is a valuable exercise to use simulation to constrain this process deductively.

Your work is fabulous! Besides: We need more computational, simulation and theoretical work! Psych, cogsci and cogn neuroscie are/remain in a mess without it.
-
You have no idea how much all this/your support means to me.
