@o_guest I feel that good knowledge of programming means you are more able to appreciate the importance of open software and being able to take that specific code and run an analysis with the same data as someone else. I agree in principle, but for some of us with limited skills we might rely on licensed programmes that help get the initial skills, and when we're confident broaden skills to something "truly" open. But will always have a project in "closed" software.

Though I think we should be taught these skills earlier on, especially in psychology, to help us produce reproducible and truly open code to move forward as a discipline.
