Which software (e.g., MS Excel / Word, R, Matlab etc) do you find best to use for presenting statistics data visually for publication? @PhDForum @AcademicChatter @JASPStats #HE @OxExpPsy @RHULPsychology @VBourne_stats @ProfAndyField @MaartenSpeek @UCLPALS @o_guest @PaLSPPG

Yes I see! The problem might be that SPSS is taught at undergraduate level. If R was always the standard method of analysing results there would be less of a problem in people not feeling comfortable with programming

Ok. So if I understand you correctly, this means that a (quite large) group of people (i.e. most psychologists) who have been extensively trained in stat methods shouldn't be doing statistics. What about programming-pros, who have no formal training in stat methods?
-
(of course I agree that modern psychology training should include programming skills, but to date it doesn't)

Aren't you at
@EP_UCL with me? We do teach them Python. -
Yes it's going well with UCL doing more and more programming teaching. I hear from a friend that her stats course at City University is taught in R only so this is a good step forward that more people are adopting
