Just figured out some basic d3.js for the first time using some GIS-derived data. Awesome stuff. Really exceptionally beautiful figures. Definitely using this for current work and more so for future work if I get the opportunity.

No, experience taught me to avoid it. What I'm scared of are important things built with JS by people who think it's a good language. Nowadays, some folks even think it's a good idea to build server software with it. _That's_ scary. The language itself is just what it is.

For gimmicks, every-day life assistance apps and such, the JS ecosystem is a decent tool (because there's a lib for everything, and every "client" already has a browser). If you can bear working with it. I can't. I'm learning
